Becoming a Formal Member

To become a member of Hampden Park Co-op, one must buy a share of stock at a cost of $30.00*. This entitles the member to volunteer if he or she wishes; to participate in the governance of the co-op; and to share in the distribution of allocated profits at the end of the fiscal year.

To become a volunteering member, one must attend an orientation session and actively participate in the co-op's volunteer program. This makes a member eligible to receive discounts on purchases and to take a more active role in the governance of the co-op.

We use member identification numbers to track patronage. Upon purchase of a share of stock, the new member receives a temporary wallet card. A wallet card with the member’s name on it will be mailed soon after the stock purchase. The member must make sure the wallet card is kept up to date, and show it to the cashier whenever purchases are made.

*Hampden Park Co-op will not deny membership to anyone due to hardship in paying the cost of a share of stock. The general manager will handle any special membership needs on a case-by-case basis.
